Download “Product Splintering” Special Report

Announcements

One of the big secrets to getting your traffic at “wholesale prices” is you need to “splinter” your products so that they’re EXACTLY targeted to the wants and needs of your particular market.

The subject of “product splintering” was briefly address in the Self-Liquidating Offers special report, but in this report Mr. X covers it in much greater detail and even shares an example from his own business.

CLICK HERE to download and read the “Product Splintering” report now.

NOTE: If for some reason you still haven’t read the “Self-Liquidating Offers” report, I higher recommend you CLICK HERE to read it prior to reading this 2nd report. The concept of “Product Splintering” just won’t have much context if you don’t understand the basics of “Self-Liquidating Offers”.

If you dont have 1shoppingcart you can work with this script, that accepts paypal and affiliates.

    http://www.innovapixel.com/7dsecrets

btw - it has a one time offer option you can activate

  2. David April 23, 2008 @ 4:14 am

The $7 Secrets Script and similar scripts is not a good solution because it requires immediate payment. There’s no way to process the “add to order” option mentioned in the first report, and I doubt people would stick around for three or four trips through PayPal! Anyway, 7DS only supports one OTO.

What’s needed is something like Amazon’s checkout process that lets you make a purchase, then you can actually add additional items into the order for something like half an hour afterwards without having to make another payment.

VistaPrint does the same thing. After you purchase some cards, they present you with two or three upsells — “click here to double your card order for only $9.95″. When you click it, your order is modified, but you’re not taken through the check-out process again. Then they offer you a card holder, magnets, and something else. It’s very slick!

Hmm… The risk-free upsell seems like a great idea. The problem I face is implementing it, as I don’t use 1SC. If you don’t live in US and Canada, setting up a merchant account does cost a couple hundred of dollars and not to mention that most of them aren’t internet marketing friendly.

Another problem is getting a merchant account that actually integrates well with 1SC, the choices are really limited. I doubt there’s a script that can do the same using Clickbank or PayPal. If there is one out there, someone please let me know about it. Thanks.

I was seeing the posibilities as I was reading this. Like a lot of info, it just makes a ton of sense when you read it. I have been hesitant to dump money into Google campaigns for fear of losing my shirt. This will help a lot, thanks tim

  5. Johannes Nefischer April 23, 2008 @ 8:54 am

you can use the $7 script to do the same strategy with affiliates - so that you have the same process but instead of paying for adwords the affiliate gets the $7 - but it doesn’t allow you to use the upsell strategy promoted in the report

Matt Bacak uses a better system for upselling & it automatically charges your credit card.

It makes Mr X’s free script look amateurish & impractical to use.

Perhaps Mr X needs to learn from Matt Bacak.

  9. Ryan Ng April 23, 2008 @ 12:27 pm

Hi Mark, does Matt Bacak’s system involve installation of custom scripts and 1SC?

  10. Bobby April 23, 2008 @ 1:41 pm

Ok people here are the real systems you should be using:

1SC is fine if you want to hack at it with custom scripts. With the given script it is a nice system but not ideal.

Ultracart.com on the other hand is ideal. It has these risk free upsells (called Upsell After on their site) BUILT IN! It is also significantly more customizable than 1SC. Youll note I didnt include an affiliate link and I am not associated with them I just spent a month scouring the net for the best solution for this exact technology and Ultracart was the absolute best I found. Oh yeah, and its cheaper than 1SC!

As for Matt Bacak he uses infusionsoft.com which is a highly integrated CRM solution. It is a fantastic platform that is totaly configurable BUT it costs $5,000 minimum to setup and $300-500 a month. I am planning on switching to it once my revenue is high enough to justify it!

For a merchant account go to: powerpay.biz
They are the guys Matt Bacak uses along with a ton of other top internet marketers. I use them and they are great.

    Whew, youve been served!
    -Bobby F.

From good stuff comes even MORE good stuff. This is what the internet was designed for; free flow and exchange of information. Thanks for contributing everyone!

  13. Andrew Seltz - The Go-To Guy! April 23, 2008 @ 5:33 pm

The logic behind product splintering is excellent and I can see how it would be effective for selling and getting good Adwords prices.

I’m currently using E-Junkie for my online sales coupled with PayPal. As much as I’d like to have risk free upsells, I’ll remain risky for a while longer.

My technique is simply to link the buy button on the main page to an upsell offer. The wording basically says, “for $xx more you can add xxx to your order.” They click no thanks or yes please which leads to the PayPal payment interface.

It’s not perfect by far, but it’ll work until I can afford a better system.

  14. Nadim April 23, 2008 @ 6:02 pm

There is one problem I see with using X’s system for the upsell.

That, and to the best of my knowledge, it is against Visa and MC policies to process customers orders on their behalf in such manner as X does it.

They don’t like you, and I vouch it is against their TOS to enter people credit cards when they are not physically present or at least on the phone putting the order in “real-time” with you on the phone.

    So be careful there…

The script worked for me. Thanks Ryan and Cullen. It takes the customer all the way through to the thank you page and I get emails about their upsell orders. Very cool and clever. But I do need to take a look at that other upsell system mentioned here called ultracart.com. The more automated, the better!

  21. Tony Finbarr-Smith April 24, 2008 @ 5:54 am

  22. DoraD April 24, 2008 @ 8:48 am

    Nice report!

A walk through any isle in the market will show how companies are using splintering to their advantage.

Bob Serling addresses splintering in his licensing course. Great idea to make money teaching businesses to splinter their products.

    Ok…where’s the next report?

    Thanks :)

  23. Nick April 24, 2008 @ 10:37 am

I’m really liking these reports. The best so far has been the Self-Liquidating Offer report. That’s just gold and has had me thinking of different ways to implement it! Keep them coming!

Matt B-BOY is getting rich off of collecting personal info and payment information for a buck and reselling it. What a life. Seems he got his nads nipped by his JVs for not being transparent enough about his repeated billings with his neato script. Oh, he did con a multi-thousand dollar seminar or two out of the gullible and hopeful and smarmy. (few more JVs maybe)If you knew how many folks who purchase items online despised you and your ilk, perhaps you wouldn’t consider your childish brags worth bragging about. What a life for this clueless marketing wannnabe cult. I see regulatory agencies in your future.

  25. Tara (The Belleville Real Estate Girl) Lyons April 24, 2008 @ 2:37 pm

Great mini book Ryan. I use adwords pretty heavily to advertise my real estate services and splintering this up should help cut those cost and find more qualified buyers. This stuff works beyond selling products on the web.

Infusion - WAIT before you buy.. I’m almost pulled the trigger on buying Infusion and I’m glad I waited.

Would you rather an Infusion System that manages your entire website too? How about not having an upfront fee?

Note: I’m not an affiliate nor a principle but I found a system that is better than Infusion. Yes, it is NOT know within the IM community. I suggest you try

  28. Brett Fogle April 26, 2008 @ 5:45 am

    To add the Infusion comments..

It has some great features, but is not very intuitive, and is downright confusing…

We’ve been calling it Confusion Soft, and in
2 years haven’t used more than 10% of it’s features because we don’t know how to.

Rather than the headache of learning it, we’ve recently teamed up with our primary shopping cart provider… made a substantial investment with their company, and are working with them to create a new KILLER merchant platform (I don’t dare call it a shopping cart) that will have all the features in Infusion, as well as some of the great ideas listed here.

    Stay tuned..

  29. Sam April 26, 2008 @ 6:11 am

Mr. Z… what is the “Infusion System that manages your entire website too?” You didn’t leave a link.

  30. Julia April 26, 2008 @ 6:22 am

Goldbar.net also offers built-in upsells. Like 1SC, they’re not perfect either. But there is significantly more value there.

    Hey Brett (Fogle),

I have had a few of my coaching clients tell me the same thing about InfusionSoft.

First, as an ex-ad guy I have to admire the way that Ryan brands his reports. Since the majority of people process information visually, when you can use visual language, all the better. And the phrase “product splintering” is a good example. Thanks Ryan, that gave me a few ideas…

Second, I was having lunch with the president of Nitro Marketing and he also conveyed frustration with infusion. And he used much stronger language than that…

Third, hey Brett, long time…and Brett Smith…you’re everywhere! :-)

Is there anyone out there that would be willing to do some Mentoring for a fee?
maybe you all feel you have earned your knowledge the hard way? But I could sure use a friend to walk me through this process. Sincerely carmen

  36. Jorge Diaz April 27, 2008 @ 1:18 am

@carmen: i can help you, contact me through my website.

I am testing Ultracart.com and the upsell is usefull, but the problem is i only use paypal (not ready for a merchant account) and it seems, Ultracart is only going to work with Authorize.net or other card processors.

So for now i may go through paypal and have product splintering, and with every product have a 7dollar script installed, with an oto for the recopilation of books (see example of the report)

all the customers are going to a main list of customers (this is automated with 7DS) and then i will promote a membership site.

setting up reccuring billing through paypal may be a pain in the a** if you dont have a paypal account, maybe i go through clickbank recurring.

Since i dont have the right tools, like 1shoppingcart or a merchant account i will test this model.

    See you later.

BTW- a link for 7dollar secrets is in the first comment i made.

Thanks for the SLO report. However, the GoogleAdsense info is old news. Relevancy is nothing new. I’m still getting Google slapped with $5.00 minimum clicks for keywords, using these techniques.

Google is now taking into account website age to determine the quality score. They are making it really tough on us.

  51. Unconditional Freedom Process Facilitator Dr Claude Windenberger May 27, 2008 @ 11:45 pm

Another intriguing concept. I can’t wait to read this, too, to see how I can apply it to my business. I offer workshops in which I take people–who are interested and willing to get rid of some unwanted conditions intheir life for good–through a simple questioning process that I deveoloped (I call it the unconditional freedom process). My challenge has been that this process is so universally applicable that it’s “hard” to market and promote it. I get a feeling that your report might give me some clues. Thanks again for sharing all this free stuff.

    Dr Claude Windenberger
PS: just to give you an idea of my process and what it can do, you can watch the 2 videos I made with 2 amazing unconditional freedom stories (http://www.youtube.com/drclaudetv) or read more stories at http://www.realfreedomstories.com
