Ryan - the aweber opt-in form at the bottom of the page is not working, but the one at the top is. When I was using the bottom one it kept telling me I was not entering a valid email address. I tried four different ones and the saw the optin in the top right and that one worked.

By the way, from what I can see, this upsell script won’t work with paypal orders, will it? You have to be storing the credit card info in your shopping cart database in order to manually process the second order, or am I missing something?

As for the 2.5% converting salesletters, I didn’t believe it either until he showed me his numbers. Basically, it all comes down to picking ultra-specific topics that fulfill EXACTLY what someone is asking for.
If you do that, the salesletter is almost superfluous. Really, all you probably need is a headline and an order button and your conversions would probably kill!

Anyways, I have a question that is totally unrelated to the report but a marketing question nonetheless… so I hope you are able to answer it.
I noticed that when I opted in, there wasn’t any double opt-in process. Was that a conscious marketing decision on your part? Coz I realised the double opt-in process often lowers my conversion rates on my sites.
And, I thought aweber requires a double opt-in process? How did you get around it?

I’ll actually probable switch to double opt-in once I get my custom subject line approved just because I want to make sure people aren’t putting in BS info to get the free report.
As for Aweber, you can go to List Settings and then “Verified Opt-In” to turn it off for a particular list. The default is on.

Acutaly I do have one quick question:
Do you have a resource you could suggest for automating the fufillment of the printed version of the report?
Kunaki is great for automating CD/DVD fufilment but I dont know a good low cost sporadic volume print fufillment place, suggestions would be appretiated!
the ideal situation would be a place I could have an accoutn and would have APIs or XML we could access to set it up so that when an upsell order is placed the printer is passed the user’s address and the item ID to print and places it in a que, then we coudl go in review the que and have all the ones which were paid for fufilled!
(thats an ideal world obviously but there has to be something out ther ethat can do that!)

Re-read the portion of the PDF that talks about how they do it. They use the variables passed by 1Shopping cart and the script that is provided in the PDF. No credit card info is passed.

Just wanted to clear up the concept of adding the upsell orders.
What you will need to do is first add an additional product into the cart for each upsell item.
Then you simply pull up the customers original order via the order ID sent by the script.
After that, you can pull up the checkout page for the upsell item and manually copy/enter the order data from the customers original order into a new order.
While I don’t exactly provide support to people who didn’t purchase the script, if you have any additional questions concerning the upsell system feel free to contact me directly and I’ll “do my best” to answer your questions.

I read the report with great interest and want to thank you for making it available.
I had just learned about the necessity of squeeze pages and now you showed me it is not necessary.
Back to square one.
I am new to all this so I will have to study some more but it seems to me that it can be used for a lot of projects - even to raise money for NGOs. And that would be very great since I am working for one.
Of course it is of the utmost value to have customers who already bought something instead of someone opting in for a free report.
Assuming that the products are of good quality it would be great to check that people are actually using them as well. Perhaps they even need some coaching or a course which you are making obviously.

How funny is that!
Just the other day I was wading through the usual IM email that had arrived and found this *very low cost* report that I thought was worth the effort, mainly cause it cost next to nothing. Nothing special at this stage.
Once I had put in the credit card details and I thought the process was over I was led through about four separate up sells based on my response to the previous page.
I nearly bought all the stuff just to have a look at the process this guy was up to. I made a point to go back and look at it more closely.
It is now very clear he obviously stumbled across this report before I did.

This is a great idea in theory. It’s true, a buyers list is a lot more valuable than a list of freebie seekers.
However, it’s not that easy to get those high conversions on adwords. I don’t care if what you’re selling is only $7.
It is still difficult to get conversions rates that are very high.
This is why I prefer just to build a list and promote something in my 7-day ecourse.
Then a month later I’ll do my own product launch formula on a $77 product.

On page 23 of your report you claim a net profit of $602 per 1000 clicks, but you forgot to subtract the $270 for advertising. Net profit is Gross sales minus expenses, so the net profit is actually $332 not $602. Again on page 23 you refer to $1955 in profits (not reflecting cost of advertising). To anyone who understands the difference between Net and Gross, this blatant mistake takes away from the credibility of an otherwise interesting report.

I don’t think the script will work with Clickbank, but it does give me some ideas.
The other question after reading the report was something the author said about ebay.
Mr. X says, “I suck at SEO and it’s sporadic at best, and Ebay was far to slow.”
What does he mean by “Ebay was far too slow”?
Does that mean that you can’t generate enough traffic to make this tactic work or that the sales process is too slow via ebay?

Good question, Rod. Basically he meant that Ebay was too slow at generating adequate volume. So while you could do a few sales a day in the markets he was in, he could do a lot more in search.

All i got was a blank page until i RIGHT clicked on the “click here” and then clicked “save as”. The file was immediately available for download.
Unfortunately Ryan, when I right click on the download, and “save target as”, in the middle of downloading, it stops and wont go any more.
Is it my computer, or a download problem?
I haven’t had any other problems downloading things this morning.

Mr. X has his opinion and I have mine. I still definitely believe that opt-in pages have their place (and I know Mr. X would agree) but when you’re doing PPC he’s had better luck sending people to low-priced offers as opposed to squeeze pages.
In the end, marketers should avoid blanket statements.
Pretty much everything works…it just a matter of what works better and when. In this case, Mr. X has found that SLOs work better in PPC and other, similar forms of media than opt-in lists.

The trick with AdWords today is setting up one single ad group for each keyword phrase and only have the exact match, phrase match and broad match as your keywords in the group.
Also you need to make sure that your ad has your keyword in it using dynamic keyword insertion. The next thing is to make sure your CTR gets a minimum of 2.5% CTR right off the start or your quality score will never get high enough.
Start off for a few days bidding a maximum of $5.00/click and get your CTR up to more then 2% and then after a few days slowly decrease your maximum bid price making sure your CTR does not drop below 2%.
The last thing is make sure your landing page is optimized for the keyword you are bidding on, I recommend a different page for every keyword or use a dynamic script to generate the page.
That should help you have faith in AdWords again

Wow! I am glad I got this email. I have to admit I am pretty fresh when it comes to Adwords, but what really blew me away was the script to add the upsell before you check out.
Just the other day when I was ordering another program so I could do a review on it with my new blog I am trying to get put up, I thought to myself why in the heck can’t you be able to add the upsell before you check out because that is so dang aggravating that more times than not I have not purchased the upsell for that very reason!

Yes there is a method to the madness, but there are some really good points within this report that can really help get the costs down. Once you understand What Google wants, the rest is really just common sense.
I think what hurts most of us is that Google continues to change the rules on us and what worked like crazy 2 years ago, doesn’t do squat for us now.
So reports like this are what help us all stay on top of that Google monster and still allow us all to make money.
I for one really appreciate that, so thank you for sharing!
BTW, I know of similar reports that are charging $97 for this kind of information, and they aren’t even close to the quality of discussion as this report!
Just thought I’d throw that out there so people realize that although this information was free, it’s definitely worth paying for and not to take it for granted.

Small recommendation to all;
- rename the Process.php page
Why?
I recommend renaming the Process.php page because it’s currently open to spam attacks. An easy to guess page name that auto emails you are not good. Recommend renaming to something random like “process-tran4me.php”. By doing this you’ll also need to adjust the calling pages so that they are calling the page by the new name.
I’m hoping this helps people by reducing attacks received by spam robots.

Call me crazy, but why would Google see “scrap metal” as less worthy a keyword than “scrap gold” or “scrap silver”? Obviously, gold and silver are subsets of metal, but why would Google see it that way?
This is the only bit in the report that I take issue with.
Sometimes I think my old man was right; you really DO have to be smarter than a box of rocks. Started my first internet venture nearly 6 hours ago and I’m so far behind the 8-ball, I don’t even know that the 8-ball exists. I am new to internet marketing, and we have a very specific, high-end product that we sell…I am unsure how what this report contains can be of assistance…i.e why build a list of people based on them purchasing reports unrelated to our product, when those people are unlikely to buy our product when we ‘upsell’?

It is blocked in most of Europe (hey folks we spend and speak da English over here). I have also been travelling and found it impossible to get into in other major areas - is it US/Canada only?
There is a real reason for this (I know not what) but if I want to buy something from Frank I have to do it via JoMo using that terrible working product called PayPal - alternative payment option please.

Well all I can say is that I listened to the entire presentation the first time I’ve done that in ages. I am quite novice at this business and computer stupid, but I am willing to give this a shot.

I read the report and downloaded the file, but I can’t open the Word file, it is all garbage type of text. And the file called “Process” won’t open either. What is that file written in? I tried to open it in BoarderBond PrintShop, but that’s the only BoarderBond product I have on my computer.

Hi again Ryan,
In trying to clarify the problem have a peek at this. When you look at the format of the Self-LiquidatingOffers link on your post, the one with all 3 new links, it looks correct on the post itself. When you hover over the link with your curser, however, look down in the lower left corner of your browser and you will see, as Mr. Vern discovered, that the actual Hyperlink has an extra “http//” in it. When you hover over the other two links they are formatted correctly.

I’m sorry you’re having issues but the registration pages are active. If “Refresh” isn’t working, try closing your browser and opening a new one.

Just one guy’s opinion, but… I was on the earlybird site just as instructed, synchronized to time.gov, and it worked perfectly 2 seconds after the official launch time.
Expected to get no (or slow) response from the server, not get in early, maybe not get in at all, etc. One of the rare time-critical things that has ever worked perfectly for me, actually…

Hey Ryan,
I enjoyed the eBook. I really like the self liquidating offers and the rule of 7’s and 2’s - event though you didn’t elaborate on them, it is a pretty brilliant concept. I had previously used 1’s and 6’s but I’m gathering that 7’s and 2’s are the new 1’s and 6’s. Before you know it, it will be the rule of 8’s and 3’s.
One thing that I think was oversimplified is that if you don’t provide people with value in the eBook that they won’t become a repeat buyer.
PLR’s and overseas writers may end up biting you in the tush long term and trading your credibility for cash up front.

Never had any Adwords campaigns there… seems that just delivering ‘what was promised’ was enough to keep the clients coming back for more, while bringing new ones into the fold.
Building with them long term relationships, personal relationships, has been the key beyond just delivering the results promised.
I intend to start a new project (4 different low priced cleansing products priced at 5 to 9 dollars each) and plan to use your system.
I’ll keep everyone updated here… it should hopefully be a blast!

Great idea about the manual orders as it’s very annoying for the customer to have to sign up more than once. Also like the idea of selling “strings” relatively cheaply to a customer to buid up trust for more costly items as that’s where some real money can be made.
